The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America was created and founded by thirty-six Carpenters in August 1881. Local 89 was chartered on April 4, 1885 in Mobile, AL. The Local is headquartered at 53 Midtown Park West. Local 89 is home to Carpenters, Millwrights & Pile Drivers.

In 2005, a new 'State of the Art ' Training Center was built at 7600 Hwy 63 North in Moss Point, MS. The 10,000 sq ft facility is home for all Apprenticeship Training as well as Journeyman upgrade classes. These classes help keep our Carpenters and Millwrights the best trained craftsmen in the industry.

The area covered by Local 89 consists of 43 counties in 3 states. The jurisdiction runs from the Louisiana/Mississippi line on the west side, to the Apalachicola River in Florida on the east side. From the Gulf of Mexico northward approximately 100 miles.

Local 89 is affiliated with the South Central Carpenters Regional Council. Local 89 Union Meeting is the first Monday Night of every month at 7:00PM. All members are urged to attend.
